I met Dikembe at the UN General Assembly in New York. Despite his towering presence, he was incredibly humble and kind. When I awkwardly suggested a selfie, we laughed as I only managed to capture half of his face. A stranger offered to take a proper picture, and we shared a moment of genuine joy. That brief encounter showed me Dikembe’s warmth and humanity—qualities that made him unforgettable.
Gone too soon at 58, Dikembe’s spirit lives on in the laughter and kindness he spread. Rest in peace, Dikembe. You will be dearly missed.
