✨ I came across this powerful reminder from Joe Becigneul:
"Allowing a student with a hidden disability (ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia) to struggle academically or socially when all that is needed for success are appropriate accommodations and explicit instruction is no different than failing to provide a ramp for a person in a wheelchair."
This really struck me. 🌱
Too often, “hidden disabilities” are overlooked because they’re not immediately visible. But the barriers are just as real.
Imagine expecting someone in a wheelchair to climb a staircase without a ramp—that would be unthinkable. Yet students with special educational needs are sometimes asked to “just try harder” instead of being given the support they need to thrive.
Accommodations aren’t about giving unfair advantages—they’re about leveling the playing field so that every student has a fair chance to succeed. Whether it’s extra time on assignments, movement breaks, or emotional support, these adjustments are as essential as physical accessibility.
When we build ramps for learning, everyone benefits. 💡
