🎄Christmas in our little Hallmark town feels like magic. We didn’t travel this year and that felt like its own gift. Sending love to everyone this holiday season!!

What’s the one low-stakes parenting thing that makes you irrationally angry every single time?
Like, it shouldn’t bother you… and yet it does. Deeply.

This weekend, a friend sent me a 5-minute voice memo ranting about goodie bags.
(“Why am I bringing home a sack of sugar and plastic after I bought the gift?” She’s not wrong.)

Mine?
🥴 Leaky water bottles
🥴 Glitter in birthday cards
🥴 Pajama day reminders… that come at 6:02pm

I’m working on Edition #3 of Parent Problems, my newsletter where we unpack these tiny chaos agents with humor and real parent-to-parent solutions.

✨ Drop your oddly specific gripe below. I might include it in the next issue (with your blessing, of course).

Hi. It’s been a while. 👋

This account started as a way to help parents raise their kids with less stuff and more intention. But behind the toys was always a bigger mission: to question the way we parent and whether it’s really working for anyone.

So I’m back. Not with a business, but with a newsletter.

It’s called Parent Problems. And it’s about the stuff we whisper about in group chats:

🏕️Why camp ends at 12 but work ends at 5
🎂Why birthday parties feel like a wedding

This is a space to name the problems, crowdsource solutions, and learn from one another.

First issue’s out now. Link in bio to read + subscribe. I’d love to hear from you and what solutions you have to these thorny topics!

This account started as a way to help parents raise their kids with less stuff and more intention. But behind the toys was always a bigger mission: to question the way we parent and whether it’s really working for anyone.

It’s called Parent Problems. And it’s about the stuff we talk about in group chats:

🏕️Why camp ends at 12 but work ends at 5
🎂Why birthday parties feel like a wedding
🙇🏻‍♀️Why we all feel like we’re doing it wrong

This is a space to name the problems, crowdsource solutions, and maybe even rewrite some of the rules. And who knows what comes from all these solutions we will find!

First issue’s out now. Link in bio to read + subscribe. I’d love to have you in this next chapter.

We’re just not ready to give up on the problem.

And this community of caregivers means too much to us.

We’re going to use this space a little differently moving forward.

We will be exploring new ways to tackle the plastic toy crisis many of which are simple and likely already happening all over the country.

If this isn’t your thing, we’re not offended at all by an unfollow.

But if you want to hear more about community toy swaps, alternatives to the plastic toy aisle and what the latest research says, we’d love to be a tiny part of your life.

Thanks for the ongoing support as we navigate Tiny Earths evolution into something a bit different but still 100% from our hearts.

We feel honored to have spent the last 4 years creating circular and sustainable solutions for children’s play for thousands of families across the US.

But we have some tough news. We unfortunately have made the difficult decision to close Tiny Earth Toys. Many of you joined our community when we were a rental subscription helping to eliminate clutter and overconsumption.

Most recently, in an effort to achieve profitability and continue operating in a challenging economic environment, we launched a Kickstarter for Tiny Spaces, the first dollhouse that converts to a bookshelf. While we had excitement and support, we did not meet the requirements to go into production and we will not be able to bring Tiny Spaces to life.

Through this process, we’ve learned a lot about what it takes to bring a product to market. What we learned is that there are higher minimum order quantities than we expected, and higher costs of production, freight, shipping and marketing. And all of these expenses need to be ready upfront. And we unfortunately do not have the capital to place an initial order or continue operating our business.

What this means is we have canceled the Kickstarter campaign and did not take in any of the backers’ funding.

This decision was not made lightly. We explored several options to bridge this gap, including seeking additional funding and evaluating smaller production runs. However, all these avenues led to the same conclusion: we cannot produce the product at the high quality and reasonable cost we initially thought.

We realize how disappointing this is. We’re really disappointed too. We’ve poured our hearts, time and passions into this business over the last four years.

Our priority is to maintain transparency and ensure that your time and trust in us are respected. Please stay tuned on how we plan to keep this community alive. And thank you again.

Sincerely,

Rachael & Catherine

“Yes” spaces are a place within your home (or outdoor space) that are set-up specifically for your baby or toddler to explore freely without hearing “no, don’t touch that!”.

It goes beyond child-proofing to building an inviting space for your child to explore and play self-directed. So while “yes” spaces are designed to be 100% safe for your baby or toddler, they are also made to encourage play, curiosity and expression.
