What an honor it was having Lt. Governor Michelle Strinden and Senior Advisor Conner D. Swanson, speak last Wednesday, August 13, at the ND Adult & Teen Challenge Recovery Center in Mandan, ND. Around 20 male students were able to attend, along with NDATC counselors, staff and admin. The students asked great questions as the Lt. Governor and Senior Advisor spoke on concerns around issues such as addiction and recovery, what help is available in the state for those seeking help, as well as what is still needed in North Dakota communities to be more equipped and better able to offer a more immediate help.
The students asked poignant and candid questions sharing their personal insight and experience on the struggles they have had statewide in getting the help they needed, when they needed it. The NDATC students and staff felt that the Lt. Governor answered every question with honesty, knowledge and grace, showing how important the issues surrounding addiction and recovery, as well as each person in the struggle, are to her and all North Dakotans working to make a difference in the lives of those that most need it.
NDATC is grateful to have had the opportunity to listen and speak with Lt. Governor Michelle Strinden and Senior Advisor Connor D. Swanson. Students felt heard and also gained a better understanding in the process of identifying a need, and the hard work in creating movement for positive change. 🤩🥰🤩🥰
