The Louisiana Department of Health is holding its first Annual Shareholder Meeting on Wednesday, January 21 at 9:00 a.m., and they are accepting public questions now.

Updates will include Medicaid, Behavioral Health, Public Health, and other programs that affect access to care statewide. A limited portion of the meeting will be used to answer questions submitted in advance, giving residents and advocates a chance to be heard.

You do not need to attend in person to participate, but questions must be submitted ahead of time.

NAMI SELA publishes free resource guides to support individuals, families, adolescents and older adults affected by mental illness to help them navigate new or challenging experiences. Supplying our local law enforcement, including New Orleans Police Department, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana Crisis Intervention Teams, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office, helps them have these resources at their fingertips.

Without the help of trusted partners like Chevron, Trinity Episcopal Church New Orleans, Mele Printing, and Junior League of Greater Covington, we would not be able to provide these valuable guides to those on the front lines.

Our Education Team had an amazing day with the Washington Parish Youth Coalition, engaging in mental health centered art activities. Thank you to Adobe and NAMI for making this possible! We loved getting to talk with you all about self-care and positive coping strategies.

Later this month, we will be hosting a FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid Training! 🧡🐨

YMHFA is an evidence-based course intended for parents, teachers, coaches, youth group leaders, nurses, social workers, or anyone who regularly interacts with youth. You will learn how to recognize/respond to the signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge/crisis. This is a great way to learn about local mental health resources in the area and gain lifesaving skills!

(In need of CEUs? This course counts for 6.5 in-person CEUs in the social work field, and can be accredited to other fields as well!)

The holidays bring on a few Christmas miracles, and the Northshore Food Bank is doing just that by supplying over 100 people with full fixings for Christmas dinner. Thanks to Yvette and the rest of the Northshore Food Bank for supplying some meals for our clients, residents, and so many in need.
