থ্যালাসেমিয়া (Thalassemia) একটি বংশগত হিমোগ্লোবিনোপ্যাথি (Hereditary Hemoglobinopathy), যেখানে হিমোগ্লোবিন চেইন সিন্থেসিস-এর জেনেটিক ত্রুটির কারণে স্বাভাবিক রক্তকণিকা (RBC) গঠন ব্যাহত হয়। হিমোগ্লোবিনের দুটি প্রধান চেইন — আলফা (α) ও বিটা (β) — এর উৎপাদনে ঘাটতি হলে যথাক্রমে আলফা-থ্যালাসেমিয়া ও বিটা-থ্যালাসেমিয়া তৈরি হয়। এই রোগের কারণে মাইক্রোসাইটিক হাইপোক্রোমিক অ্যানিমিয়া (Microcytic Hypochromic Anemia) দেখা দেয়।
