As September marks National Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and September 10th is recognized as World Su***de Prevention day. I wanted to take a moment to share a message from the heart.
I'm Jack Hess, Facility Director at Katie's Way Manhattan, and as an Army Combat Medic with 20 years of service, to include tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I've seen firsthand the invisible wounds that war and life can leave behind. Mental health struggles don't discriminate—they affect veterans, families, friends, and communities everywhere. But here's the truth I've learned: seeking help isn't a sign of weakness; it's the strongest step you can take.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please reach out. Talk to a trusted friend, family member, or professional. You're not alone, and there are people ready to listen and support you. Assisting those in crisis starts with us all being vigilant and compassionate—check in, offer a shoulder, and encourage that first call.
At Katie's Way Manhattan, we're here to provide collaborative, team-based care for assessment, therapy, and treatment for ages 15 and up. Contact us today at (785) 320-7331 or manhattan@katiesway.com to schedule a consultation. We're located at 714 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
