Today concludes our stay at MOP in Kampala! We started our day with a wonderful Mass and blessing over our group from the brothers. After a quick breakfast we headed out for a 3 hour trek to see Lake Victoria and the Source of the Nile! Getting there was interesting and Rich even rode a bota- aka motorcycle when going to exchange some money! We took Br Liam and Fr Alan out for lunch at a Chinese restaurant.
Came back for dinner and to pack up our things. Just concluded our evening with night prayer and the brothers awesome singing. We will leave at 2 am to fly back to Nairobi at 0540. We will spend a few days in Nairobi before heading home on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The group picture is taken in front of a statue of Ghandi- so as we say goodbye to Kampala may we remember what Ghandi said- Be the change you wish to see in the world! Many blessings to you all. Know that you are all in our daily prayers.

Our last day working in the centers. Today the whole group worked at the boys center - Bethlehem Home. We fed and dressed the children, cleaned ears, gave haircuts, swept and mopped floors. Now back at the monastery as the brothers prepare for a celebration of 7 brothers to be moved to the next phase with MOP.

We all spent our day at the girls center - Good Shepherd Home.
We arrived with 4 suitcases of medical supplies for this center and supplied the on site clinic with much needed OTC meds and supplies. We had a great downpour and made the best of it while washing the lunch dishes even if it meant getting soaked! We were blessed to spend the day looking into the eyes of Christ with each encounter we had today. Knowing that this would be our last day at Good Shepherd it was a sad day for some, especially since the ladies of the group spent the last 4 days at Good Shepherd and have made some new African friends.

Hello from Uganda! Today was a morning at Good Shepherd center some working with physically and mentally challenged girls others spent time hand washing clothes for the center. More wash than we had ever seen. All of our work saves the missionaries days of work. We did take some time today buying some souvenirs Twas a great day. We are a good way into our mission and get more comfortable every day in the culture. Love the worship...so awesome in singing and enthusiasm. We are blessed by your prayers and are praying for you all...thank you!

Well it is 3:00 pm in Kampala Uganda. The weather is beautiful. We arrived early this morning 2:30am with a 6:00 am wakeup. We were kind of beat but it was worth it. Glorious mass then off to the center to visit with and feed children with many disabilities but all so joyful. Before we left Nairobi we had some amazing experiences. None will ever top US all going going to a village to join in the celebration of a newly ordained priest. The music joyful and very African. Never minded the 2 1/2 hour long mass all in a local dialect. Great local food to follow. Our day started at 7am and ended at around 8:30. A full day but totally a blessing. We all made it into Nairobi at me point or another ...it is a crazy place. Leaving Kenya mission was tearful for us but we are now in Kampala after a Faith required journey and we are ready for a new experience in a new country. We are blessed...every day we are blessed. More later...We are praying for you all.

Well friends we are now deep into our activities. MONDAY found us deeply involved in the centers where the ladies spent the day being the teachers for a large number of 3year old wonderful children. The guys spent the day moving gravel and basically manual stuff. Who do you think was most tired? Think 3 year olds....then Rich Val and brothers for a trip to Nairobi to fix a van window. What an experience...WOW! Today we started off doing work around the monetary. Ladies and Val working the gardens and the guys helping with some roofing. After lunch we spent 2 -3 hours visiting folks in their homes in the slum neighborhood where we are living. To say it was life changing would be an understatement. We are so blessed. We are working, playing and praying together and all is good. We pray for you daily. More another day. We are blessed by your prayers.
