Sunlight seeped into my window
Dropping its colors onto canvas.

Reflecting thoughts a myriad
Faces, watered down forgiveness.

Breath, holding, I don't know
How, in the silence.

Forgive?

Oh, yes. Not for you.
For me.
My heart then, is peace.

When words are hard to find, this is how the conversation starts.

Heidi and Tina, two end of life doulas, share an open conversation about death, dying and grief

Talking about death reduces the fear.
Preparing for death increases our capacity to live fully present, now.

Scorpio. Love fiercely. Loyal. Emotional.

I am a deep thinker and love having deep conversations. Curious about people for as long as I can remember, I am insatiable when it comes to the stories of life.

Photography is just an extension of me. I can never get enough of light and shadow, the wonder of nature, or capturing a candid photo of a loved one.

Music is breath. Singing is my oxygen.

Walking is a necessity for all the right reasons. It's when I do my best thinking and creativity becomes center stage when my feet are moving.

Books have been in my hand since I learned how to read. I am a life long learner and stand in the truth of that power.

Feathers are my sign. Gentle reminders from loved ones, helpers, or angels that I am enough, or validation that I am on the right path. And yes, I talk to birds.

I chase sunsets and sunrises. Flowers, well, aren't they God's way to lessen our sorrows? They make me feel like a child every single time.

Clarity came after having multiple heart attacks the day after my 60th birthday. I share this to emphasize that waiting for the right time, or for things to be perfect, is not an option.

My feelings about my own death have always been unclear. Remote. Hidden in the recesses of my mind as shadows and disconnected ideas. Now, I have a renewed sense of the need to be clear about my wants and needs when it is my time. I cannot expect my family to respect my wishes if they don't know what they are.

And I know I am not alone in this.

The Story Doula gets down to the heart of things. What's important. And what isn't. What is it about you that you wish your family will remember? What are your fears surrounding the dying process? How can you prepare for the end of your story in a way that honors the way you LIVE? What does it look like to love the story of your life?

Let's explore how to tell your story in a way that is unequivocally, YOU.

Glad you're here in this space.

Let it be a place to hold you in your uncomfortableness.

Life has taught me that grief never leaves us. That grief has many forms and manifests in a myriad of ways. Some healthy. Some not. The teacher also reveals that the only path to healing requires, no, demands, someone bear witness.

Come, take a walk with me.
