I have EXCITING NEWS! I have access to the amazing Salt City Testing Kitchen for cooking lessons again! I will be offering cooking lessons one Saturday a month from November-March starting on November 16 (Healthy and Delicious Thanksgiving Side Dishes). Registration will open before Halloween and will be announced here! Spots will fill quickly! 3-6 year olds in AM with parents and 7+ drop off in the afternoon!

May is an important month to recognize some extremely valuable professionals (thank you teachers and nurses!). It is also Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) Awareness month. I work with families who struggle with PFD everyday, and its impacts are felt throughout the entire family unit, not just the child.

Feeding Matters is the first organization in the world uniting families, healthcare professionals, and the broader community to improve the system of care for children with pediatric feeding disorder through advocacy, education, support, and research.

Take a moment to check out their IG page or website www.feedingmatters.org to learn a bit more about PFD and how you can be an advocate and increase awareness too.

ATTENTION NEW YORK STATE RESIDENTS

🚨⚠️ If you have are a parent, caregiver or family member of a child who has ever spent time on the wait list for early intervention services or

🚨⚠️if you are are a current, former or future early intervention provider or

🚨⚠️ if you understand how impactful calling and writing your representatives actually does matter..

Please consider calling your state senator and your assembly member about this. Your call and your voice matters.

Advocating for this rate increase will encourage more SLPs to work in early intervention, a setting that has been grossly underpaid for years which directly contributes to the tremendous waitlist, preventing children from getting the services they deserve.

Two years ago this month I started the Caregiver/Parent Support Group. As with most new adventures it has been a big learning experience for me. I’ve connected with so many wonderful and valuable professionals in our community and in turn, have been able to connect new parents to these professionals as well!

🫶🏽A sincere thank you goes out to Leah at the who has given our group a home the last year after running out of space at the YMCA.

🫶🏽Another sincere thank you goes out to every professional who has showed up (many more than once!) and demonstrated how much they want to give back and help parents in our community.

🫶🏽The last thank you goes out to those new moms and dads who have stepped out of their comfort zone and into one of our meetings. I hope you’ve found value and connection by coming 🤍
