Please continue to share and spread the word! We are still trying to get a kidney for my dad, we are doing everything we can at the moment. Even if you can’t donate, please share and tell your friends and families about his story!

Also, I want to challenge all of you to share one story of a time with my dad that made you smile, laugh, or is just in general a good memory. One of my favorite stories is from my senior year of showing livestock, a few days before local, and we were getting my show heifer, Sadie, ready and groomed up for the coming shows. I was having some trouble leading her and at one point had let go of the halter when she took off dragging me. It took us over 20 minutes to get ahold of her again, and when I did my dad looked me in the eyes and said “now, don’t let her go again or I will beat your ass!”. Later on at my local show, Sadie got spooked on our way out of the ring and she got me down and I didn’t let go because that one sentence kept playing in my mind. Moral of the story, even though he scared me to death by saying that, I did learn that even when things get hard you just have to keep holding on and work past the hard times. https://helphopelive.org/campaign/25709/

Hello everyone, I have created this page as another way to share my dads story and some of his journey while trying to get a kidney transplant and get back to enjoying life as much as he possibly can.

In July 2021 my dad, Roy Varnell Jr, was diagnosed with end stage renal disease and was immediately started on dialysis. He goes to dialysis 3 days a week, each treatment lasting approximately 4 hours. He starts his treatments very early in the day, around 5:40am. He doesn’t get to enjoy as much as he used to in his day to day life. Growing up, my dad was very active in FFA, showing livestock, going to meats judging and various other contests. He won several awards during his time in FFA, as well as in college at Eastern Oklahoma State College. He taught me everything he knew about sowing livestock, and passed on the love for this from the time I was 7 until I graduated high school. He has always done as much as he can to help with the sheep and cows, but with having limited mobility and low energy levels after dialysis it is difficult for him. By getting the transplant, he will be able to come off of dialysis and get back to helping more with the animals, as well as get back to enjoying quality time with his family and friends. If you all could please share this post, and spread the word, my family and I would greatly appreciate it!

Roy grew up raising and working with livestock. He was active in FFA and showing animals. In college, he was on the Eastern Oklahoma State College Meat Judging team and won multiple awards. He also earned an associate’s degree in Agricultural Science. He passed his love of raising and showing live...
