Build language through routines you are ALREADY doing. Repetition is key!

Using functional words like “up” and “down” in several different contexts will not only help your child USE these words, but also give them a deeper understanding of all the ways they can be used!

I love up and down as first words because it helps alleviate frustration when your baby wants to be picked up OR put down!

These early communication milestones are simply a guide-things to be on the lookout for and look forward to as your baby grows! But it is important to remember that every child is an individual and learns different skills at their own pace! Keep in mind that all of these milestones can develop within a RANGE of months. If your child isn’t meeting a milestone at the beginning of a range, give it time!

If you are concerned about your little ones development, Early Intervention is a FREE service for children birth-3 years old that provides services (speech, OT, PT, general development) in your home, daycare or community! They will come to you for an evaluation.
