Tongue Tie. If you've ever been a breastfeeding mama, this is something you pray your baby doesn't have!

Naturally, as a lactation consultant both my boys had tongue ties which caused severe breastfeeding pain. A very humbling experience being on the other side.

Below is a picture of my first son's tongue tie which was revised at 6 days old by Dr. Baxter at Alabama Tongue-Tie Center - Dr. Baxter & Dr. Trego.Thankfully with infant chiropractic care by Dr. Jessica at Family First Chiropractic and LOTS of oral therapy, we were able to successfully breastfeed for 2.5 years!

Second babe came, and knew it was coming- tongue tie yet again. This time, we were able to avoid a revision with chiropractic care with Dr. Jessica and Cranial Sacral Therapy with Jodi Lawson. 10 months of breastfeeding and going strong!

I lived it and breathed it. I know as a mama this can be a defeating part of your breastfeeding journey.

Baby symptoms:
Poor latch
Poor weight gain
Reflux or frequent spitting up
Frequent gassiness and fussiness
Clicking or smacking noises when eating
Dribbling milk out of mouth (even on a bottle!)
Frustration when eating
Inability to hold a pacifier (this is also a big one for bottle refusal babies)
Prolonged nursing or bottle-feeding sessions

Mother's symptoms:
Painful nursing
Creased or flattened ni***es (right after nursing)
Blistered or cut ni***es
Incomplete breast drainage
Plugged ducts or mastitis
Inability to nurse without using a ni**le shield
Decreased milk supply (I see this ALOT around 3-4 months)

Miscarriage is unfortunately a part of so many of our stories. With the struggles emotionally, mentally, physically…it all takes such a toll. Navigating loss while also being held & supported isn’t always the norm unfortunately. While we do our best to walk this road with our mamas here at WWM, we truly want every woman to feel heard & supported during this time.

After a recent WWM mama lost her baby, she informed us of these useful and amazing thought out miscarriage kits. Full of thoughtful items to help mamas & families navigate this unbelievably hard season.

Medical items to help ease the fears and unknowns of first trimester miscarriages at home
Several very thoughtful gifts for mama.

Are you having trouble with your breastmilk supply?

Here's a recent pump session of mine, though a few weeks ago I started to get less than an ounce per pump session. I thought to myself okay lactation consultant, what's going on? Turns out replacing pump parts, getting a new pump because the motor had started to go out, and needing to go down FOUR fl**ge sizes made the BIGGEST difference in my supply (even though my baby is 9 months old now).

I am living and breathing the ups and downs of breastfeeding.
