The gender gap in healthcare is well-documented. For decades, women were systematically excluded from clinical research, meaning the drugs, dosages, and diagnostic tools we rely on today were largely built around male physiology.
The downstream effects of that gap are still playing out in misdiagnoses, in dismissed symptoms, in women who leave doctor's appointments with more questions than answers.
Independent pharmacies sit in a unique position in this story.
They are often the most accessible healthcare touchpoint a woman has. No appointment, referral, or three-week wait required. Pharmacists counsel patients on hormonal health, contraception, chronic conditions, and medications in ways that are personal, informed, and unhurried.
That kind of care doesn't close the gender gap on its own, but it makes a real difference in the lives of real women, every single day. This Women’s Health Month, we're honoring every independent pharmacy team working to be part of the solution.
