💕 Meet Our NICU Graduate, Autumn💕

Born at 35 weeks, she spent over a week in the NICU before heading home to Escanaba. Recently, her twin brother Liam also graduated from the NICU—making the homecoming extra special for their family!

Her mom shared: “Our family will forever be grateful for all the love and care given to our babies while we navigated the journey from our home in Escanaba to here in Marquette. Their big sister is patiently awaiting to fulfill her big sister duties, now that both Autumn and Liam are home.”

Congratulations, Autumn, we’re so proud of you (and Liam too)! 💖💙

🧼🦠 Helping kids stay healthy this cold and flu season 🦠🧼

As the weather cools and germs spread, it’s important to help kids practice good hygiene. UP Health System – Marquette Director of Quality and Patient Safety Amy Lamere and Infection Preventionist Assistant Hannah Burpee shared tips on TV6 Morning News to help parents reduce the spread of germs.

Top hygiene tips:
- Wash hands: Teach kids to wash for at least 20 seconds, front and back, and between fingers.
-Use soap and water: When available, it’s more effective than hand sanitizer.
-Cover coughs and sneezes: Use elbows or tissues to prevent spreading germs.
-Stay home when sick: Rest helps recovery and keeps illness from spreading.

Are you feeling fatigued by what you see online? You may be experiencing what is commonly referred to as “doomscrolling.”

Doomscrolling refers to the habit of consuming a large amount of negative media online in rapid succession, without clear limits. It often starts with the goal of staying informed, but it can come with a cost.

Social media platforms are designed to capture attention. Spending too much time on distressing topics can affect your well-being. Potential effects include irritability, sleep loss, less physical activity and higher stress.

Tips to protect yourself from doomscrolling:

- Set time limits. Use your phone or tablet’s settings to help you step away after a certain amount of time.

- Unplug with healthy activities. Try exercise, cooking, gardening or art—activities that keep you present and engaged with your surroundings.

- Set expectations. The next time you see something distressing online, ask: “What can I change about this? What can’t I?” Redirecting energy into constructive outlets, like volunteering or advocacy, can be more effective than constant scrolling.

Doomscrolling can be an easy trap, since a nonstop flow of information is always at our fingertips. With mindful habits, we can better manage how we interact with what we see online.
