If you know me at all, you know I’m rarely speechless, but I am today. In a world where it feels like everything is negative or sad, I have so much joy for the event at our store today. An entire JV football team and their coaches came together to dedicate their time and unending energy to wash cars on a bit of a blustery day. They were polite, enthusiastic and had a blast! (Wearing shorts and Tshirts and spraying each other with water, no less!)
And the best part is that they helped to raise money for one of the most amazing support groups, Cancer Care of Marquette County. The grand total was $634 and well beyond what we imagined.
Cancer Care of Marquette County offers support to only local residents, no matter your income. It’s a rare occurrence to meet a single person who has not somehow been affected by cancer. Perhaps it’s you yourself, a family member, a loved one, a friend, a neighbor, a teacher or pastor. The financial strain of dealing with medical bills can be overwhelming at a time when many are also reeling from the diagnosis itself.
Our huge thanks to the Westwood JV football team and their coaches, Lynn Bartanen for helping us connect with that group, Lori Hennigan for enduring the heat in the Sugar costume and donating her time and the countless number of people who took the time to stop for a car wash or simply take the time to stop and drop off a donation. A special thanks to Bob for coming up with the idea and helping to make it happen.
Our community pulled together to make this a success and we are grateful and humbled beyond words.
