On Friday, some members of our IDT team had the opportunity to visit the UNI Dementia Simulation House, and it was truly an eye-opening experience.
The simulation gave us a deeper understanding of what individuals living with dementia may experience on a daily basis—confusion, sensory changes, and the emotional impact that can come with even simple tasks. Walking through real-life scenarios helped us build greater empathy and reinforced the importance of patience, communication, and person-centered care in everything we do.
We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow our team to grow, learn, and continue improving the care and support we provide to those we serve. 💜
UNI’s gerontology program has created an innovative hands-on learning experience for campus and the community in the Dementia Simulation House, a home where individuals use goggles, headphones and gloves to experience
