Being a NICU mom can be one of the most challenging things that we face as a parent. In the moment, you can start to question a lot of things, but putting faith forward is what got me through our NICU journey. ❤️

No one should have to go one this journey alone. Reach out to a close family member, friend, doula or even get to know your child’s care team. Be strong and pray.🙏🏻

Happy Easter from our family to yours!

This. This is one of the many reasons I became a birth doula. 🤍

Did you know that 9 out of the 72 counties in Wisconsin are considered maternity desert areas—meaning families have little to no access to maternity care close to home?

And the reality is… many of the families I serve live right in those areas.

That means longer drives for prenatal appointments.
Longer drives while in labor.
And sometimes fewer options for support and care.

That’s exactly why having someone in your corner matters.

When I walk alongside families as their birth doula, my goal isn’t to tell them what decisions to make. My goal is to make sure they have all the information they need so they can make the decisions that feel right for their family.

Where they give birth.
How they give birth.
What their options are.
And understanding the rights they have for their own bodies and their babies’ bodies.

Every family deserves to feel informed, supported, and confident as they welcome their baby into the world. No matter where they live.

And I feel incredibly honored to support families in these communities. 🤍

Nine of Wisconsin’s 72 counties are "maternity care deserts" – no hospitals or birth centers offering obstetric care, and no obstetric providers. See link below ⬇️

Hi, I’m Ashley! 💛

I’m married to my college sweetheart, a mama to two energetic (and very sweet) boys, and a birth doula with a heart for supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

I know from both personal experience and working with families that feeding your baby can bring a mix of joy, questions, and sometimes unexpected challenges. Whether you’re learning to pump before returning to work, navigating low milk supply, working through latch concerns, or simply wanting reassurance that things are going well, having support can make such a difference. 🍼

I currently have room to support a few families who are looking for lactation guidance in this season.

My goal is to help you feel encouraged, informed, and confident in your feeding journey — without pressure, judgment, or overwhelm. 💛

If you’ve been needing support or know someone who has questions, comment lactation or send me a message — I’d love to connect.

As we approach the middle of March, I want to let you know that if you are struggling with painful latches, getting ready to go back to work or just became a new parent, I still have openings in March to help you with lactation issues!

Comment “lactation” and I will send you a DM to set up an appointment!

A lower risk of breast cancer has long been recognized among the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers. Now, researchers are closer to understanding why.

A new study found that:
✅ Having babies and breastfeeding causes CD8+ T cells—a special type of immune cell—to accumulate in normal breast tissue.
✅ These protective cells remain in the tissue for decades after childbirth.
✅ They act as long-term guards, helping prevent breast cancer—especially the aggressive triple-negative type.
✅ However, this protective T-cell response was observed ONLY after a full cycle of lactation and breast recovery.

Lifelong health benefits for babies AND mothers—that’s why BFUSA partners with facilities to support every family in meeting their breastfeeding goals.🤱🏽
