Massage therapy provides assistance to the endocrine system which is in charge of communication within the body by the use of hormones. An imbalanced, dysfunctional endocrine system can lead to the cause of many life threatening diseases. Massage reduces adrenaline and norepinephrine. When these hormones are overproduced they cause the body to go into 'fight-or-flight' mode, which results in tense muscles, high blood pressure and raised cortisol (stress hormone) levels. It also encourages hormones to be released in the proper doses at the right time. Overall, massage therapy relieves stress and helps the whole body function properly.

Our bodies receive so many benefits from massage therapy. An important part is the lymphatic system which is in charge of our immune system. Lymph (clear fluid made up of white blood cells) is stimulated by massage to be pushed through the body via the lymphatic system in order to reduce swelling and clean out pathogens that infect the body. This is especially important during the Covid-19 pandemic. Here at Healing Factor we specialize in lymphatic drainage massage, among many other specialties. Massage therapy is just one of the very many ways in which we should take care of ourselves. As we wave goodbye to 2020 and finish up the holiday season I am sure we all have some detoxifying to do. All of the heavy meals and sweets hide away in little pockets of our bodies waiting to be cleaned out. Our bodies need a good detoxification!! Drink lots of water, exercise and rest well my friends. But don't forget about that massage your body is begging for.... Massage not only helps the endocrine system function properly, but stimulates the lymphatic system to clean us out and protect us from dangerous pathogens! As we say farewell to 2020 and welcome the New Year, it's natural to have the desire to start the year off right. That is; diet, exercise, sleep, meditation, etc. Massage has so many benefits to our overall health but that doesn't mean that we should neglect other important factors of our health. Each category complements the other tremendously! When you balance them all, your health is in great shape.
