Mane Support

Mane Support Non-profit focused on Equine Assisted Therapy located in Rockwood, Tennessee. In addition, Mane Support provides education and support to community groups.

Mane Support is a nonprofit organization that provides a ministry through equine-assisted grief counseling to children and adults who have experienced a death, who are anticipating the death of someone they know, or who have experienced other types of loss. Unlike therapeutic riding, 100% of the Mane Support activities are conducted on the ground, giving the program its own distinct capabilities and diversity. Because safety is a primary focus of the program, there are both a clinical and an equine professional with the participants for the full duration of every session. Through interactions with the horses and other structured activities, participants learn problem-solving skills, confidence and team building. Mane Support offers a wide variety of different groups serving different needs as well as individual sessions. Mane Support uses horses for many reasons. They are strong, magnificent creatures that are honest and live in the moment. They hold no biases against us and never judge us. Interacting with them often allows individuals to overcome intimidation regularly derived from their strength and size. Horses are gifted with the ability to mirror our feelings, allowing the individual insight into ways they may not be aware of how they are reacting to certain situations. Possibly best of all, they are wonderful listeners and teach us many lessons about ourselves. Check out the Mane Support website for more information.

This is a picture of True Caring..

For those of us who are blessed to have animals of any kind, it is always a hard day when we don’t know how to help them.

On a day when Skyler, one of our oldest equine counselors, suddenly stopped eating we were blessed to have the kindness and expertise of Sarah Sailors DVM and Vet Tech Abby Starnes of Countryside Veterinary Services.

If you look closely, you will see that they are sitting on the ground at his level and care was taken when opening his mouth, supporting his head and using different non invasive methods to find the problem. In addition, they made sure he felt comfortable before during, and after the procedure, as Skyler has one more hurdle that he deals with daily… He is going blind.

The problem ended up being a partially broken tooth, which they gently removed. By the afternoon Sky was eating again.

We all know what a breath of relief that is!

Each day we learn so much from our equine counselors, as they teach us how to see with our heart and not just our eyes.

On this day, it was nice to see the same care and respect given back

Thank you both, for showing us a picture of True Caring
