Foothills Forest School at Camp Montvale is reimagining education through forest play! This brand-new program (launched fall 2025) offers preschool and homeschool students the chance to learn and grow in nature, where curiosity leads, and the forest is the classroom.

💪🏼MARCH 7- Community work day from 8:00-1:00
There are a variety of projects for all skill levels-schoolhouse renovations, clearing brush, gardening, and more! You can sign up on our website for work days 😊

🌳MARCH 7- PREVIEW DAY from 3:00-5:00. Come join us for a tour of the campus, meet the teachers, and ask allll the questions 😉 You can sign up on our website under the “preview days” tab!

🔥 MARCH 27- FAMILY FRIDAY-FIRE SKILLS from 9:00-12:00. Spend some time on our beautiful campus, mingle with like-minded folks, and learn some cool fire skills in the process! You can sign up on our website under the “Family Fridays” tab 😉

🐾 APRIL 24- FAMILY FRIDAY-ANIMAL TRACKING from 9:00-12:00. Come hang with us and spend time looking for and identifying animal tracks alongside other families. Sign ups are on our website under the “Family Fridays” tab!

🪏 APRIL 26- COMMUNITY WORK DAY from 12:00-6:00. Help us work on some projects to continue to build out our campus. There will be projects for all skill levels, and you can sign up on our website under the “Ways to Support” tab

🏃‍♀️MAY 9- HARMONY MUD RUN: Sign up with us to run in the Mudder’s Day Madness Mud Run hosted by Harmony Family Center (a really special nonprofit that’s very close to our hearts) You can sign up on their website

ENROLLMENT IS OPEN FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR! ☀️🪶

🌸 CLASS OPTIONS:

FOREST PRESCHOOL: 3-5 Year Olds on Mondays and Wednesdays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-2:00

FOREST K/1: 5 and 6 year olds with families looking for a more structured approach where their child will be taught Kindergarten and First Grade materials while also enjoying the benefits of a forest-centered education. This class meets Monday-Thursday from 9:00-2:00.

HOMESCHOOL ENRICHMENT: Ages 6-9, 10-12, and 13+. These classes offer a traditional forest school model where students will deepen their relationship to the natural world through exploration, free play, crafting, song, and more!

Introducing….FAMILY FRIDAYS AT FOOTHILLS! 🌳🌳

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with some FFS staff, see the school, get a glimpse into what we do, and meet new friends!

3️⃣ Dates to choose from, or sign up for all 3!

💕 FEB 13: Learn about some of the birds that hang around our area through the winter and some that will join us when it’s warm again. Have fun crafting, birdwatching and learning bird calls

🔥 MARCH 27: Learn how to build a fire, tend to it, and all about fire safety. Enjoy learning ways to elevate your family’s fire experience with recipes, how to make a natural fire starter, and more!

🐾 APRIL 24: Explore our trails in search of animal tracks after you learn what to look for and who those tracks might belong to!

Sessions run from 9 am-12 pm and will include crafting, free play in the forest, and learning new skills or sharpening up on things you already know 😉

❔Did you know…Foothills Forest School is a registered 501(c)(3) organization?!

We have BIG plans for our school community, and we need your help in order for us to hit our goals and give these kiddos an amazing schoolhouse and a new shelter for the homeschool class.

OUR PLAN:
🏡 Renovate an existing structure on our property (pictured above) into a schoolhouse for all classes to use as a place to gather, learn, craft, and take shelter during severe weather. The schoolhouse will also be a “home base” for our NEW Forest Kindergarten class. The space will also be a wonderful spot to store craft materials, paperwork, etc. to keep it nice and dry 😉

🌳 Construct a lean-to structure in the forest for our homeschool class in order for them to have a proper camp spot with a place to store items, enjoy their lunches and snacks, and craft while being sheltered from the elements.

💵 THE COST: $10,000
