Today Sydney was with a 34 week mama who's water broke last & baby was breech. Providers felt like today was safe for baby to come. While she was there with .doulas helped out with an induction that went really, really fast. I love to bring able to call upon my village while I'm on vacation!!! Thank you to .g.thomasson for also being on call. We can't do this with support from other birth workers who care like we do 💙🥹🥰

Sorry for the late post, but I still want to give a huge shout out to my mama who gave birth this morning. Felt a little nauseous & shaky last night. Text me at 6:30am saying how she was feeling crampy. Text at 8:30am that they were headed to the hospital. Had baby by 9:32am. Much faster this time this around, but still another amazing unmedicated birth. I feel so lucky to be part of all these strong mamas. Oh & another full moon baby (even for them).

HOULA POST:

I usually do something funny, but I want to celebrate Tamara tonight.

Usual morning started with texts coming in before the alarm went off (yes, that's normal). And then suddenly the morning went from "normal" to " the real normal" - Tam darting (as much as you can in a boot) out the door, cancelling her chiropractor and other appointments to go to a birth.

Birth number 350 - 350 families that she has personally supported for months on end, day and night, on vacations, during dates, even text from movie theatres. Constantly supporting and encouraging women that they can do this and it is their story.

Congrats babe - it truly is your passion and your calling in life.

And pizza is on the counter for whenever you come home....

Woohoo 🎉 Congratulations Mama 👏 You were so patient with this pregnancy and birth. Your sweet baby boy certainly took his time! You push through every obstacle thrown at you and came out to victorious! You had the unmedicated birth that you had dreamed of. Started showing signs last night, but was only in labor for 6hrs. Now you're holding your sweet baby boy. Enjoy those snuggles you deserve them. We are so proud of you! 💙

From swapping cocktails for mocktails to cutting out caffeine, ☕😪, what other changes should you make?

Follow these healthy habits to pick up during your pregnancy:

Extra R&R -- Pregnancy is hard work. Listen to your body. Slow down during your lunch break or for a half-hour in the late afternoon.

Smart Snacking -- Get into the habit of stashing nutritious snacks around your house so you won't always be tempered to grab a bag of chips, but remember it's okay to treat those cravings!

Exercise -- Try walks, yoga, or even stretching. Swimming is a good exercise if you are further into pregnancy.

During consultation we get asked a lot of questions. One question I get asked a lot is what is the best part of being a doula to me. For me it's watching the couple becoming partners. It's that instant connection when you two looks into each other's eyes & seeing the baby. It's such an amazing experience to watch the growth between you two that I know you've been waiting for. It really is the most magical part 💫
