With a heart full of gratitude, I want to thank each and every one of you for the love, prayers, and compassion you have shown me and my family during the loss of my son, Cedric Darrian Shawnkise Cherry. Your kindness, support, and presence have truly carried us through one of the most difficult times in our lives.

The overwhelming outpouring of empathy, generosity, and willingness to help has meant more than I can ever fully express. Because so many have reached out asking how they can support, I thought it would be best to share this message with everyone.

As we prepare to honor and celebrate Cedric’s life and legacy at his Memorial Gathering, those who feel led to contribute may do so in the following ways:
• Flowers (preferably Peace Lilies)• Food (finger foods and drinks only)• Red and black balloons for the balloon release (biodegradable options are encouraged)• Good vibes, love, and positive energy as we come together in remembrance

Memorial Gathering for Mr. Cedric Cherry:

A Letter from Franshawn (Blanton) Strickland:

With a heart weighed down by unimaginable loss, I, Franshawn Blanton-Strickland, invite all family, friends, and loved ones to join me in honoring and remembering my beloved son, Cedric Derrian Shawnkise Cherry.

Cedric, born July 15, 1993, and called home on April 17, 2026, was a light in my life and in the lives of so many others. The pain of a mother losing her child is a sorrow that words can scarcely capture, yet I find comfort in knowing that Cedric’s life, love, and legacy will continue to live on through the memories we share.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Murray, Kentucky. This gathering is an opportunity for all who knew and loved Cedric to come together, reflect, and share cherished memories of his life.

In honor of Cedric, we ask that everyone please wear the color red as a symbol of love, strength, and remembrance.

I have entrusted MDH Funeral & Cremation Services with the arrangements of this Memorial Gathering. Please note that this gathering is separate from any formal disposition arrangements.
