🚨 Kentucky Legislative Update – Spring 2025 🚨

The 2025 Kentucky General Assembly session brought several impactful changes to state law that affect drivers, property owners, and communities across the Commonwealth. Here's a brief overview from Reid Law Office, PLLC:​

🚗 New Driving Age Law (HB 15)
Governor Andy Beshear signed House Bill 15 into law, lowering the minimum age to apply for a driver’s instruction permit from 16 to 15. The law took effect immediately upon signing. Teens must still complete 60 hours of supervised driving (including 10 hours at night) and wait six months before applying for an intermediate license.​

🏠 Property Owners & Squatter Removal (HB 10)
House Bill 10, now law, strengthens property owners' rights by allowing them—or their authorized agents—to request immediate removal of unauthorized occupants (squatters) by law enforcement under certain conditions. The bill also defines “squatter” in Kentucky law and includes criminal penalties for squatters who damage property.​
