With childhood cancer, nobody realizes what life really looks like for “survivors” or the ones off treatment. It’s not all rainbows and sunshine once your MRIs are stable and the chemo is over. Next it’s time to work on fixing all of the side effects after a child’s brain or body has been cut open and then poisoned with toxins that have been used since before they were even born. And as I type this out in frustration with the “why?”, I’m brought to a pause and reminded how fortunate we really are, and in so many ways. Today we met with her new Hematologist, Dr. Briones. He’s going to be working on figuring out the root cause for all of this bleeding and bruising Abigail has been dealing with, alongside her Pediatrician who is working on the potential autoimmune side of this. She will have visits with a couple of new specialists in the upcoming weeks, along with a sleep study test. Abigail gets a very specific blood test this coming Monday that has to be done at 7:30am, and we should get the results of the autoimmune panel this week. I ask that you pray with us for answers and a clear path forward. She has an MRI next month, so we’ve asked Santa for stability.
My golden girl is killing it at school and even gets to skip her Microbiology final because she’s got an A in the class. This weekend she will attend the GHSA Cheerleading Championship for the second year as a coach, and next month she will submit her application to the nursing program. She gets to. We get to. We are blessed.💛🎗️🫶
