We just want to take a moment to celebrate the life of Joe Clark Shepherd. He was a very special person in our community and in our organization. He will be greatly missed and we are praying for his family, friends, and our fellow veteran family.
Joe Clark Shepherd, 77, of Chauncey, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in the Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Joe was a native of Dodge County and was the son of the late Lennis Clark Shepherd and Bernice Kirkley Shepherd. He was retired from the State of Georgia DNR where he repaired Historical Sights. During his career Joe built many Stuckey stores around the country. He served in the United States Air Force as a Supply Technician. Joe was instrumental in establishing the Telfair American Legion Post #80, where he held the position of Adjutant. He was passionate about helping anyone but especially veterans. He was a member of the VFW Post 4742 in Cordele, Georgia, a member of the VVA Chapter 1082 in Fitzgerald, Georgia and a member of DAV of Macon.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Loweโs Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Telfair American Legion Post #80, 15 7th Ave., McRae Helena, Georgia 31055.
Survivors include is his wife, Toyoko Shepherd of Chauncey; daughter, Tanya Shepherd of Dallas, Texas; son, Carl Shepherd of Chauncey and his wife Karen; 3 grandchildren, Dallas , Christopher, Alyssa; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Katherine English of South Carolina, Mary Nell Bailey of Florida; 1 brother, Phillip Shepherd of Alabama.
