Did you know that "National Parents Day" is Thursday, August 4, 2025? Here at our StoryPoint Medina Community everyday is like "Parents Day" and/or "grandparents Day". Our caregivers and other staff celebrate the many victories, milestones, accomplishments, of the residents in our care, as if they are our own family members. Our residents do the same in return. Our Community is so caring and thoughtful of one another. It is so wonderful to see the interactions between not only our lovely staff, but our residents who ask about and care about each other, in concern for one another. We have many opportunities for our residents families to interact with one another in our building. We have special holiday events, parties, and activities that both our residents' and families can partake in.

🎉 Congratulations, Chef Kevin! 👨‍🍳

We’re thrilled to share that our Vice President of Culinary, Chef Kevin Penn, CEC, CCA, has been named the American Culinary Federation Central Region finalist for the 2025 Dr. L.J. Minor Chef Professionalism Award! 🏆

This prestigious honor is awarded to a chef who exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism through certification, education, community involvement, and leadership in the culinary world. If you ask us, there is no one more deserving than Chef Kevin! 🙌

Because of Chef Kevin’s vision and over 500 chefs across our 150+ StoryPoint Group communities, meals have become experiences 🍽️, dining rooms have become gathering spaces 🫶, and countless residents have benefited by an elevated dining experience. Our communities are better because of him, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💛

Some of our StoryPoint Medina residents enjoyed a beautiful day out in nature. We took a bus ride to Lake Medina Park and spent the morning walking on their paved trail around the bottom rim of the lake closer to the wooded side of the park. We saw lots of native plants to our area here in Northeastern Ohio. Our Life Enrichment assistant has a "plant identifier" application on her phone. She took a photo of the plant life and then we guessed and learned the specific names of the plants. Along the trail we saw small back raspberries plants, woodland sunflower plants, and blue chicory flowers, (as pictured) as well as "queen Ann's lace" (not pictured). The residents enjoyed the sounds of nature, the birds chirping, the water from the stream trickling through the creak in the woods, as well as feeling the warm breeze.

There is definitely something about nature that sooths the soul and calms the nerves. It was good to see the residents our residents with smiles on the faces. When we got back home to our community they were telling their friends how fun it was and they they should join us on our next nature walk to the park.

Our residents are talented, accomplished individuals who have spent their lives contributing to the world in a myriad of ways. Their talents are part of their identity and we are thrilled when they continue their life pursuits here at StoryPoint. Helga worked for many years designing and creating flower arrangements. Here, you see her keeping that passion and skill alive as she creates the centerpieces that will be used on our dining room dinner tables. Thank you, Helga, for your beautiful addition to our community.

Red, white, and blue pride filled every corner of StoryPoint Middletown! ❤️🤍💙 From decked-out dining tables to buzzing activity rooms, residents celebrated with flag-inspired paintings, festive food, and nonstop fun. The spirit of the holiday came alive through creativity, community, and all-American energy. ✨🇺🇸

🍉🍗 StoryPoint Union served up a classic Fourth of July picnic with all the fixings—fried chicken, sweet corn, biscuits, and watermelon under a sea of red, white, and blue. It was a celebration of flavor, friendship, and summertime traditions we never outgrow. ❤️🤍💙

We had a brave group of residents that ventured out of their comfort zone to join us on our recent outing to Engage Virtual Range! Engage offered us a trained instructor to safely allow us to try our hand at sport shooting at this virtual range! Residents essentially played virtual shooting games on a large projected screen with games like Pirate Attack, Prairie Dog Hunt, and Robot Invasion. Everyone did a great job and we all had fun learning a new skill!

You're never too old to learn something new! This month on Tech Tuesday, we offered an instructional class on how to fly a drone! First, our staff techie Tess gave residents an overview about the rules and regulations of flying a drone then they got an opportunity to take the controls and fly it themselves! Everyone was fascinated with its capabilities, had tons of fun flying and even surprised themselves that they could master this fun new piece of technology!

Each Friday we welcome in a different musical act during our happy hour. Residents enjoy expertly crafted appetizers as well as cocktails and mocktails. On this particular week, Chester and Nancy were inspired to dance to the rhythm of the music of The Michele Ward Trio as they continue to live their best lives well into their 90s.

Best of friends or worst of enemies? We're going with "frienemies!" Our residents Chester and Don only duke it out on the football field as each supports one side of our notorious sports rivalry: Ohio State vs. Michigan! We're glad they can get together and engage in a bit of fun banter as they cheer on their team!
