We’re hiring a part-time Pelvic Floor PT!

Boston Pelvic PT is growing, and we’re looking for a *part-time* pelvic health physical therapist to join our small team in Melrose, MA. We’re a woman-owned, trauma-informed clinic focused on compassionate, inclusive, whole-person care - and we’d love to find someone who shares that approach.

What we’re looking for: We’re seeking a physical therapist with at least a few years of clinical experience treating pelvic health conditions. We’ll provide mentorship and continuing education to help you grow and refine your skills with our patient-centered approach.

Ready to apply? Please send your resume and cover letter to our Practice Manager, Kathy, at info@bostonpelvicpt.com with “PT JOB APPLICATION” in the subject line. We’d love to hear what draws you to pelvic health and why you’re interested in joining our team.

That same ingredient in your favorite facial serum? It can hydrate down there too! 💦

Hyaluronic acid isn’t just for a glowing face. It’s also a well-studied, gentle option to help soothe vaginal dryness, irritation, and discomfort, especially during pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause (and all the hormonal changes they bring).

Quick check: Are you sucking in all day without even realizing it? If your abs are always ‘on,’ your pelvic floor might be paying the price. Here are three signs to look out for:

1. Line above your belly button
A deep crease can signal overuse of your upper abs.

2. Constantly “gripping” your abs
Tensing or sucking in (even while standing or walking) increases downward pressure. It might feel like “good posture,” but it’s not helping.

3. Feeling like you have to push to p*e
That’s a red flag your core and pelvic floor aren’t coordinating well.

Whether we do this from hearing “engage your core” without clear instructions, or years of being told by diet culture to suck in your stomach 🙄, these habits can seriously stress your pelvic floor over time. The constant gripping can lead to a chain reaction of issues like urinary leaking/urgency, straining to p*e or p**p, and chronic tension or pain.

At BPPT, we help teach you when to turn your core *on* and - just as importantly - when to *let go*. Visit www.bostonpelvicpt.com to schedule your first visit! We have openings as soon as next week.

At Boston Pelvic PT, we pride ourselves on deep knowledge, advanced training, and years of hands-on experience in pelvic health. And still, we’re always learning and improving.

In reflecting on one patient case, Dr. Alex realized she may have wrapped up care too soon. The initial goals were met, but the deeper work had just begun. It was a good reminder that what someone originally comes in for is usually just the tip of the iceberg.

And this is yet another reason why BPPT operates on a cash-pay model. Without insurance restrictions, we have more time and freedom to p*el back the layers and explore what true healing looks like *for you*.

For my fellow clinicians: this is why humility matters. Revisiting our cases with curiosity (and not judgment) helps us grow. My team and I often ask ourselves “What could I have done differently to support this person even more fully?”

For patients: seek out providers who are willing to reflect, adapt, and own their part in your healthcare journey. That’s true partnership...and true healthcare.

If this is what you’re looking for, please reach out to schedule a visit: info@bostonpelvicpt.com.

Let’s normalize rest. Not as a reward, not because you “earned it,” and not when you’re already burnt out…but because your body needs and deserves it.

Dr. Alex is embracing that by joining Ali Schmitt’s Mother’s Day Rest Circle this Sunday…and there are still spots if you’d like to join. Learn more and register here: www.restwithali.com/yoganidraofferings/mothers-day-rest-circle

“Rest” can mean different things to different people. Sometimes it’s doing nothing. Sometimes it’s slowing down on purpose with others. Sometimes it’s choosing *not* to do what others say you “should.”

Whatever rest looks like to you, we’re wishing it for all of you this weekend (especially the Moms out there) 💙

Dr. Christine got a little post-Marathon TLC today with dry needling from Dr. Katie to ease hamstring and knee soreness.

Dry needling is a technique that uses a thin needle to release tight muscle knots and improve blood flow. It can help with pelvic floor-related symptoms, or *any* muscle pain or tightness (like headaches or tennis elbow). For runners and other athletes, it can help reduce pain, improve mobility, and sp*ed up recovery from overuse injuries.

Dry needling is often used reactively to relieve pain or tightness, but it can also be part of a proactive maintenance routine to prevent injury, improve muscle function, and support consistent training.

Curious if dry needling could help you?? Reach out to us at info@bostonpelvicpt.com—we’re happy to answer any questions and schedule a visit for you with Dr. Katie.

Dr. Christine crossed the finish line today with a big smile—and an even bigger heart. She crushed the 26.2 miles and raised over $13,500 (!!) for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in loving memory of her friend Katelyn Caruso. One of the most meaningful parts of Christine’s day was getting to see Katelyn’s parents at the finish line.

We’re so proud of you, Christine!! And to all the runners out there today - what an incredible accomplishment. Rest up, refuel, and celebrate 💛

4 sneaky every day habits that can mess with your pelvic floor.

Pelvic pain, pressure, or leaking — and not sure why? It might have something to do with how you’re standing or sitting all day. Do you:

* Stand with your butt clenched
* Shift your hips forward (like when you’re waiting line or brushing your teeth)
* Sit with your legs crossed most of the day (how many of you just uncrossed yours when reading this?)
* Sit sucking in your stomach because you were taught that’s “good posture”

You may not even realize you’re doing these things — but now you can start to notice. Checking in with your body throughout the day and making small tweaks can have a big impact on how your pelvic floor feels and functions.
