Hello! Welcome to Yoga with Tanya! Im Tanya! I’m a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and a passionate advocate for the transformative power of yoga. My journey began for the physical benefits of yoga, where I initially sought strength and flexibility. Over the years, my practice has evolved into a profound exploration of self-awareness and inner peace.

As I guide my students through their own practices, I emphasize the importance of tuning into their bodies and understanding how each pose feels uniquely for them. I believe that yoga is not just about the physical postures, it’s a pathway to connect with oneself on a deeper level.

In addition to my yoga practice, I am a certified Reiki Master, which allows me to integrate energy healing into my teachings. This holistic approach has enriched my practice and enhanced my ability to support others on their journeys.

When im not teaching yoga I’m a carpenter by trade. My journey of sobriety has also been immensely influenced by my yoga practice, providing me with the tools to cultivate resilience and mindfulness.

I am here to share my experiences and guide others in discovering the incredible benefits of yoga, both on and off the mat.

Because today I felt like folding but my roots are firm. I’m grounded, centered and connected to the earth. I’m safe, I’m grounded and I have everything that I need. So I fold, I release and let go. I allow everything to roll off. The fear, the tension, the doubt- I release you.

The experience of practicing challenging yoga poses offers life-changing benefits that go beyond physical fitness. The skills of focus, resilience, and self-awareness developed on the mat are invaluable in everyday life. By embracing these lessons, I learn to navigate challenges off of the mat with confidence and grace. The next time a difficult pose is encountered, remember that it is not just about the pose itself, but the growth that comes with it.

Embracing the idea that we are not perfect can be incredibly liberating. Perfection is often an unrealistic standard that can lead to stress and disappointment. Instead, accepting our flaws and imperfections allows us to grow and learn from our experiences. It reminds us that our uniqueness is what makes us human and relatable. By celebrating our imperfections, we can foster a sense of authenticity and connection with others, appreciating the beauty in our shared struggles and journeys.

In yoga, the journey is often more important than the destination, reminding us that perfection is not the goal. Each practice is an opportunity to connect with our bodies and minds, embracing our unique abilities and limitations. It’s perfectly okay to wobble in a balancing pose or to take a different variation of an asana, what truly matters is our commitment to the practice and the self-compassion we cultivate along the way. By letting go of the need to be perfect, we create space for growth, mindfulness, and a deeper appreciation for our own individual paths on the mat.

There are so many great benefits to a restorative practice that I couldn’t possibly list them all in one post. So here are 3 that have been very beneficial in my own practice.

Cultivating patience-
In the stillness and quiet of restorative yoga, we learn the art of practicing patience. This allows us a deeper understanding that growth and healing take time.

Connecting to the present moment-
In the stillness of restorative yoga we begin to cultivate a sense of presence. As we allow the props to hold us , become still and allow the breath to be our anchor, our awareness does not attach to distraction as easily. Our awareness allows us to feel the simplicity and beauty of each moment.

What’s one benefit you’ve received from your restorative practice?
