Hyderabad City Police, Commissionerโs Task Force (North Zone) along with Market Police, conducted a raid at Second Bazar, Secunderabad, based on credible information and apprehended one accused for manufacturing and selling adulterated ghee.
The accused, Annamali Sainathan (68 years), resident of Second Bazar, Secunderabad, was found in possession of approximately 200 kg of adulterated ghee, along with a weighing machine, packing machine, packing covers and one mobile phone. The total value of the seized material is estimated at Rs. 1.5 lakh. A case has been registered in Cr.No. 217/2025 under Sections 274, 318(4) BNS at Market Police Station.
Investigation revealed that the accused was preparing spurious ghee at his residence by mixing plant-based oils such as coconut oil, palm oil, dalda and food colouring, and selling it in one-liter packets as cow ghee at Rs. 600 per kg in local markets and pooja stores, thereby cheating consumers and endangering public health.
