This past weekend, 5 boys from our Stepping Stones group sat out on their first overnight backpacking trip atop Lookout Mountain.

This first experience of spending a night in the outdoors came with excitement and nerves. By working with our fears and stepping into the unknown with the support of one another, we have a chance to connect with our inner wisdom while facing fear and challenges.

I’m so thankful for this past weekend and the experience that we shared as a group!

Feeling extra grateful heading into this week! I got to spend this past weekend with .georgia and a group of 6 adults from a sober living community. We went out on a 3-day backpacking trip in Appalachian Mountains of North Georgia.

Spend a few days in the woods with someone and you’ll quickly see how much we all have in common and how much there is to learn from one another.

Stepping Stones Group #4- “Shared experiences create unity.”

It is special to watch a group of individuals develop friendships and come together as a group. Being in nature during this plays such an important role in that process 🌲

“Learning the Basics”- During our second Stepping Stones group, we taught some of the basics of backpacking, like setting up a tent!

Next week, the theme is “Finding Belonging in the Group.” We will focus on the process of connecting with others and building healthy relationships in the group. Only a few more weeks until our Spring Break backpacking trip!

Our Stepping Stones 2023 group kicked off on Monday evening! We have a small group of 6th & 7th grade boys that will be meeting each Monday evening for 8 weeks and embarking on a 3-day backpacking trip over spring break.

During our first group, we focused on getting to know one another and establishing group culture, norms, and values. They also learned how to build a fire!

The group had lots of great questions and are really excited for the journey! We will keep you posted 🌞

The "winter blues" are real. Fortunately, Spring is quickly re-introducing itself to us. More sunshine, warmer temps, longer days, and the smell of spring blossoms all remind us that Spring is here. This transition is coming at a perfect time as we start up our Stepping Stones group in less than a week!

There is still 1 spot left! Reach out if you have any interest in signing someone up for this 8-week group. Come join us this Spring as we dive into connecting with ourselves, others, and nature.

Spring is on its way! Only 9 more days to sign up for our 8-week middle school group!

This past weekend, I had the chance to spend a few hours with Lookout Mtn. Conservancy's Leadership Group. We spent the first part of the morning doing some prep work for the gardening season inside their new, beautiful greenhouse.

Then I taught a class on fire building and they broke into groups and each built their own fire. Building a fire is an experience that forces you to practice patience and problem-solving skills. After this, they cooked some food on the fire and enjoyed the warmth on a chilly day!

I am thankful for the day that I got to share with them and thankful for all of the time and energy that they put into taking care of Lookout Mountain!
