Cholesterol, statin medication, and cardiovascular diagnoses have long been a point of contention between holistic, osteopathic, and allopathic physicians. Lifestyle factors, such as adherence to dietary restrictions and comorbidities, have a superior factor on cardiovascular health. There is an increasing amount of scientific medical literature crediting the "carnivore diet," a restrictive lifestyle promoting its followers only eat only animal proteins and fats, with unheard-of success, even restoring / reversing chronic conditions. We now know that high-fat diets are not harmful to the average human—In fact, there is a growing body of evidence suggesting that high-fat consumption, forcing the body into physiological ketosis, has the greatest overall positive impact on health and wellness. This article challenges providers to not apply a "one size fits all" approach to managing cholesterol, taking lifestyle, baseline, and familial factors into consideration prior to starting a medication treatment. More and more, allopathic physicians are exercising restraint in "treating" the various types of mythological conditions perpetuated throughout generations of medical education.
