Congratulations to Alex Smith, MD, selected by the UTHSC medical students as Top Resident as Teacher for Block B (Feb 12, 2024-Mar 20, 2024). Some of the wonderful things the students had to say about Dr. Smith are:

“Dr. Smith is amazing at including med students. Throughout my 3rd year, he is the person who has most treated me like an equal. Additionally, he had a very sensitive situation with a mom who delivered a fetus at 22 weeks at home, and he was so amazing not only with the family but with making sure I was okay.”

"Very involved in daily teaching. Always made us feel included.”

"Dr. Smith is so helpful in teaching the students regarding anything. He’s always willing to help and make us part of the team.”

“Always tried to teach a little on whatever we were doing that day. Demonstrated very empathetic, clear communication with nurses, patients and staff.”

“Super welcoming. Always willing to teach. Really appreciate his attitude.”

These comments come as no surprise because we know how awesome Dr. Smith is! We are so proud of him!
