Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) The purpose of WIMS is to promote policies, practicies, and programs that advance women's participation and success by:

The missionof the UTHSC Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) programs is to ensure the full and successful participation of women in all roles within academic medicine and science through education, advocacy, mentoring, and networking. Advocating for women's advancement and leadershio in education, research, clinical practice, and administration;
2. Identifying and addressing barriers to female professional advancement;
3. Promoting sustainable stratgeies to enhance an institutional climate of inclusion, equity, and opportunity;
4. Monitoring the status of women in medicine and science at UTHSC in order to ensure equality of participation, professional advancement, and compensation;
5. Developing and disseminating initiatives, resources, and mentoring and professional career development programs;
6. Communicating widely the successes of women in medicine and science by recognizing women's accomplishments;
7. Stimulating collaboration with external partners by creating opportunities for networking
