I LOVE this graphic and how it shows what's happening in the diaphragm AND the pelvic floor on an inhalation. On the inhale, there is an expansion in the upper respiratory diaphragm, belly and pelvic floor. On the exhale, there is an ascending dome action in the pelvic floor, the belly comes back to neutral and the upper respiratory domes back up, too.

In my experience, when yoga teachers would talk about taking a deep breath, there was always commentary around the ribs and maybe even sometimes the belly but NEVER did anyone ever say PELVIC FLOOR!

This was news to me when I started my pelvic health journey long ago. It's simply not talked about and frankly, understood.

We go over this in great detail in the breath class for Restore Your Pelvic Floor and the next class in the series is a Diaphragm opener which helps increase the quality of our breath.

These aren't just yoga classes to check off "did yoga today" on your list of daily to-do's. These classes teach you an imperative skill that you will take with you forever into any type of movement that you like. Not to mention setting yourself up for long-term pelvic health.
