Anyone who is in the “I lost my child” club is in the worst club ever. But when you meet moms who are just like you, it helps the grief because it’s shared, and they get it. I always say I wish I never had to meet another mom who lost their child, but it’s always the best too. Today I met Kim Boss and Stacy Cartechine through Who We Play For when they invited me to set up a table at today’s free ECG event in Viera. These ladies and all the volunteers were amazing and filled my heart as they work to protect kids’ hearts. Kim taught CPR all day, and Stacy scanned kids hearts while I shared You Matter stress toolkits and talked to teens about anxiety and the 988 number. I’m quite sure Alex and Lauren and Hunter all conspired in Heaven for us to meet, and they were looking down on us today cheering us on.

We are blessed to be invited to join this special event happening this Saturday. Do you have a child age 10-25? Who We Play For is offering FREE ECGs (Electro Cardiograms). It only takes 5 minutes, and each ECG is read by a board certified pediatric cardiologist. Happening this Saturday 10 am-1pm at the Dept. of Health building at 2555 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Viera. When Hunter was playing MIHS football the entire team went to be scanned. They do this for FREE Y’ALL! Your kid doesn’t have to play sports to have this done. Just do it. Do it for Rafe. These two ladies Clara and Alex are seniors at West Shore and decided to do their senior project on su***de awareness. Not the most fun topic, but definitely the most rewarding! They reached out to Do It For Hunter asking to volunteer and together we turned this opportunity into making 130 stress toolkits for all the seniors there at West Shore! Today at their senior class meeting in the gym they passed them out and I had a chance to talk to all the seniors about the “why” behind the stress kits. It was so great being able to talk real $hit with them, reminding them failing is ok, pivoting is ok, and to find someone to talk to. These kids are amazing. But they need us. Thank you West Shore, especially Alex and Clara for kickstarting Do It For Hunter there!

So much fun at today’s Merritt Island Christmas parade! Thanks to Target volunteers for joining us and donating lots of candy and toys ! And thanks to our family and friends. Fun fact….our golf cart battery died at the judges station so our reindeer had to push us the rest of the way! LOL!
