Holiday centerpiece pumpkin-shaped sourdough boules are now available for pre-order over at

$25 nearly 4 pounds! I will be out of town for the November holidays, so please pre-order by the 19th and plan to pick up no later than the 21st.

These freeze exceptionally well, just take out of the freezer the night before or the morning of and heat them for 20 minutes at 350°F for 20 minutes before your feast.

I know a lot of of us are struggling with everything going on in this country and in the world. We are witnessing horrors and those of us with empathy are feeling the suffering very deeply. Sometimes we feel powerless, but we are not. We are all doing what we can, giving where we can. And we have to remember during this time, we can’t take care of anyone else unless we take care of ourselves. It’s important to still find joy in the small things. Let your joy be a form of rebellion (from Gina Luker).

whether it’s a favorite book, handmade marshmallows melting in a warm cup of coffee, a new leaf on an orchid, a fluffy loaf of sourdough bread, a warm fall-flavored tea, a whimsical deck of cards, a showy house plant, a magical space in your home, your pets, a gorgeous tree, or a big warm bowl of Ramen , pause and breathe in that joy and let it hold you up.

A few weeks ago, while I was still in Washington state visiting my son and daughter-in-law, I saw this little guy on the website of and knew he had to be ours! Saving seeds is one of my favorite things to do, whether it be from fruit, herbs, or flowers. These are Queen Anne’s Lace seeds I saved this morning. Just let some of the flower heads dry on the stems and then scrape the seeds into your hands and voilà, so many flowers for next year! 🥰

Since I’ve been working quite a lot at the medical clinic lately and don’t have as much time as I would like to make sourdough, I decided to get a little temperature controlled cooler/heater, mix up my dough and let it ferment all day while I’m at work. First attempt I over fermented a tiny bit, so probably will either reduce the temp a little or reduce starter, but it did turn out delicious!

It’s been a while since I made yogurt so I got a little 3 quart Instant Pot and made my first batch yesterday. It’s a tad lumpy, but so delicious! I used cream top whole milk, even though I’m normally a nonfat yogurt, girl. I don’t think the taste of this can be beat. 🤤

I Believe

I Believe.

I believe in the body's innate ability to heal and that there is a cause to dis-ease that dives much deeper than symptoms. We can give a name to a group of symptoms and throw Rx's or supplements at them but does that solve the problem? Does that remove the cause? I'm interesting in what's causing the symptoms, not in simply suppressing them. To uncover and correct the source of the imbalance(s) and optimize health and quality of life is my idea of health. This requires some detective work so if you choose to work with me, be prepared for a lot of questions, some seemingly unrelated.

You are not a series of unrelated parts. You are a whole being, each system of your body in communication and potentially affecting one other. At the center of your being is a microscopic control center called the gut microbiome. Optimizing gut microbiota is, for me, the crucial first step toward healing.

Understanding the gut microbiome changed my world.
