Happy Spring Equinox!
Great time for spring cleaning & liver cleanse!
in the Spring our Wood Element (gall bladder liver)can get over active or congested important to move the liver energy
Color - green
Liver - yin organ
Gallbladder - Yang organ
taste - sour
east - direction
transforming Anger into kindness and understanding
Imbalances in the spring - Wood Element
Muscle tension, prone to have tendon and ligament injuries
Sciatica (radiating pain from lower back into buttocks and down the leg)
Headaches, especially migraines
Irritability and outbursts of anger
Visual disturbances
Menstrual irregularities, PMS, fibroids
Digestive disturbances, including heartburn (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers
High blood pressure, with tendency toward atherosclerosis
How to Keep Healthy and Joyful During Spring
Move: The Liver needs movement
Get outside and take long walks in nature, observe the changes going on all around you, and invite change in. Join an exercise or yoga class on line
Recreate Order Out of Chaos: Go through your home and office and get rid of stuff that you donʼt need; have a garage sale or give it away and create the space for the new to come in. Allow new things into your life. Imagine what you would like to create in your life and find ways to make plans to actuate these dreams.
As Without, So Within: Spring is the time to start a healthier diet and flush out the toxins so that the Liver can do its job more effectively. Begin by eliminating foods that stress the Liver, such as fried or very fatty foods. Sugar and white flour should be eliminated or minimized, and foods with chemical preservatives and food coloring should be avoided. Donʼt overeat. Try to eat slowly, savoring the flavors. Enjoy the abundance of fresh foods that are beginning to come to market.
Let Go of Old Resentments and Start Fresh: Grudges and resentments are indigestible and can do damage to Liver energy. Practice forgiveness.
Take a Risk and Try Something New: Think of what you would like to try, even if it seems silly or scary. The small delicate sprout would never know its potential if it stayed safe within its seed…begin sprouting and be playful.
Hydrate Your Body: Drink eight to ten 8 oz. glasses of water daily. Use filtered water, not carbonated. Adding some lemon juice gives it a nice taste, and lemon nourishes the Liver.

I love to do a little Sunning Chi Kung everyday by facing towards the sun with eyes closed 3 minutes twice in morning & twice in afternoon.
Our endocrine system is perfectly programmed to provide us with the right amount of sleeping hormones during nighttime, but only when we spend enough time outdoors in daylight. This is the melatonin-serotonin factor, our waking-sleeping hormones: during daytime solar light stimulates our pineal gland into manufacturing and releasing serotonin, a hormone that gives us vitality during the day.
A lack of serotonin makes us tired and depressed. It is the reason why health advocates recommend full spectrum lights in offices, especially during winter time when working people have very little chance to enjoy the sun. When the body is able to manufacture a good, healthy amount of serotonin, then at nighttime the body can produce melatonin which puts one into a deep, healthy sleep.
The production of melatonin at night is directly proportional to the production of serotonin during daytime. So make sure you spend some time in the sun during daytime, and at night turn off all lights, pull down the shades on the windows and stay away from the TV or computer monitor. It is even recommended to cover your windows with thick curtains. You need to be able to sleep in complete darkness for best results.
In five themed segments, weekend fusion chi kung training we learn step-by-step instructions for using the sun’s documented effect on our seratonin-melatonin cycle, in combination with powerful meditation practices, to regulate and enhance our normal body functions that may have become disrupted by lifestyle factors or other stressors. Recently, mainstream medical research is confirming that a lack of sun is a significant factor in the disruption of our body’s uptake of Vitamin D, another critical health factor that plays a part in many modern disease processes. Learning to use the sun to awaken our inherent ability to heal ourselves is a universal prescription for enhanced wellness and vitality. Gilles Marin -

Studies Show What Happens To Your Body When You Walk Barefoot On Earth

CELEBRATING THE SUMMER SOLSTICE WITH TAOIST YIN YANG THEORY: The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. Can you feel the subtle shift between the sun and the earth? Do you feel your connection to Nature itself? The ancient Chinese celebrated this beginning of "Yin energy rising" with a festival of worshiping Yin qualities such as femininity, fertility and the Earth. Ancient Taoists understood changes on this plane as part of Nature's larger cycles. They sought to remain deeply in tune with the Earth, and find a perspective that would help them engage in life meaningfully. We hope you do the same! Taoist philosophy and its cosmology influenced the entire system of classical Chinese medicine.
Because the summer is the season of the Heart, the summer solstice has traditionally been a special time for many cultures to celebrate love, joy, and the special people and interconnections in our lives! Associated with the fulfillment of your heart's desires and deepest wishes, it is also the day where yang energy peaks and yin energy begins to rise, later reaching its peak with the winter solstice. Many ancient cultures celebrated the solstice as a day of extreme spiritual and physical importance, because of it being the longest day of light (as a result of the earth's semi-axis being tilted at its maximum angle towards the sun). They associated this with the spiritual triumph of light over darkness, or life over death.
Interestingly, the famous Taoist Yin-Yang symbol is based on measuring the solar shadows throughout the year. The dark dot represents the summer solstice, or smallest "shadow" or Yin energy and the most "light" of Yang; the the white dot represents the winter solstice, and the opposite of summer's "shadow" and "light." This symbol, developed thousands of years ago by the Chinese, also represents a perfect scientific flow chart of how solar radiation fluctuates throughout the year due to the earth's tilt toward the sun.

Releasing Sciatic Pains by Working on the Psoas Muscles and the Lumbar Sacral Plexus
When toxic pressure builds in the abdomen, it affects the lumbar plexus and creates chronic tension in the lower back. It is very important to release, lengthen, and balance both sides of the psoas muscles. Working on them can help a variety of emotional problems, especially depression.
Be sure to do both the right and left side of the body. If you are working on the left psoas, work from the left side, and vice versa. Usually one side is normal and one side contracts and is tense. These muscles, like most paired parts of the body, have a sympathetic relationship. Work on the good side first.
