It's a new year and each year around this time is when we start to receive an influx of dolls. Dolls who received surgery that require lymphatic drainage massages as part of their recovery. Be careful who you allow to do your after-care massages. We are all not the same.

"Why this type of work is different....

It is a very specialized training, that generally requires travel out of state to find. The basic training to become a massage therapist is about a year (give or take depending on the state requirements). Additional training is required to maintain licensure. The typical massage therapist does not train in the more advanced things that I have trained in. That is why there are so few of us, Medical Massage Therapists with Lymphatic Drainage.

There are several different modalities that help us treat people post operatively. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is one but there is so much more to it than just that. There is also training in Scar Tissue Release, Myofascial Release, and further training in cupping etc.

Every therapist who got here got here because we do something that not everyone around us does. You can't just walk into the local chain massage place and expect to get the specialized care that you are looking for. It's NOT happening, sorry.

Those of you who are planning on having any kind of plastic surgery whether it is simple lipo, having a reduction or an enlargement, lifts and tucks of any area, skin removal, or even lumpectomies etc ... it is vitally important that you seek out your after surgery care PRIOR to getting your surgery done. I can not stress this enough. You've invested into the procedure, now do the rest and ensure your post-op massages are tesecured.

Because this field is so narrow, many of us book out 2, 3, even 4 weeks in advance. Waiting until after your surgery to find post-op care may be a bad thing. We hate saying "No, I'm sorry, I have no openings right now.", but there are only so many hours in the day. My clinic operates part-time during the week and literally all day on Saturdays. If we are booked up, we are booked up.

Please, take into consideration when making your SX plans that you will need to budget for your after care massages at least 2 to 3 times a week for the the first month.

Come on and let us love on you, doll ❤
