◾Bompu zen, or "normal zen," refers to meditating in order to obtain the same kinds of things that one has been seeking for a long time.

◾The second type of practice is gedo zen, which literally means "Outside Way" zen. In gedo zen, one's practice could include prayer and devotional attention to something or state of being that is either separate from oneself or related to oneself in some way that is more or less paternal.

◾Shojo zen, which means "Hinayana," "Practice of Jhana," or "Small Vehicle" zen, is the third way to Zen. This is all about attempting to realize Buddhadharma

◾The fourth mode of practice is daijo zen, or "Great Practice zen," which is the Mahayana or "Great and Open Way" practice, which embraces everything that arises for us and is not only concerned with our own liberation, but also recognizes that the liberation of all beings is inseparable from our own.

◾Saijojo zen, which means "Wonderful and Perfect Practice," is the fifth type of Zen. It is great and perfect practice since it is not dependent on striving to realize something. It is built on a foundation of practice.

✨We discover that we don't need to hold on to our happiness or the things we like, despite the fact that we can't hold on to them. There is always the freshness of the present, yet the present is always beginning and ending. We'll come to an end here and begin here.
