Massage releases toxins from the muscles into the bloodstream and therefore the effects of alcohol are increased after a massage, in a negative way. The overflow of toxins in the bloodstream puts an additional strain on the liver.

Since massage supports increased blood flow, drinking alcohol before a massage is not recommended. Most well trained massage therapists impose a “no service” policy for patrons that are known to have consumed alcohol close to the time of the massage appointment. Massages are supposed to be a therapeutic experience, let’s keep it that way.
