Breastfeeding items

This late lunch is casual community celebration to honor and provide support for black breastfeeding mothers. It is also an opportunity to learn more about breastfeeding from local birthworkers and share your journey with mamas who can relate.

You are also welcome to invite any family, friends who want to learn more about how they can support your breastfeeding journey.

This will be a fun event with a little bit of education. Babies and little ones are always welcome!

💜 Thank you to everyone who joined our Watch Party last night! This is why we do what we do. Please keep watching, sharing, reposting and spreading the word about this important film. It’s time for change! 🙏🏾

Following the preventable deaths of their loved ones due to childbirth complications, two families galvanize activists, birth-workers and physicians to reckon with one of the most pressing American crises of our time: the US maternal health crisis.

Through the film, we witness these two families become ardent activists in the maternal health space, seeking justice through legislation, medical accountability, community, and the power of art. Their work introduces us to a myriad of people including a growing brotherhood of surviving Black fathers, along with the work of midwives and physicians on the ground fighting for institutional reform. Through their collective journeys, we find ourselves on the front lines of the growing birth justice movement that is demanding systemic change within our medical system and government.

In Memorial 🐞 - This beautiful mother expressed... Looking out a window with orange tulips on the ground, mourning the lost of her daughter at birth, she grabbed the hat her daughter wore, leaning against the blanket she was wrapped with, and inhaling her smell, a ladybug flew on her. She knew it was her daughter letting her know she was ok. Just the day before, she stared at a ladybug in peace.

I am beyond humbled this beautiful mother decided to trust me to honor her daughter. So she can be in her home, although she didn’t get to make it home.
