Happy World Autism Awareness Day from some of our AUsome kiddos! 💙🧩💙

In 1998, when I first learned about autism as a high school senior, almost no one knew what it was. Fast forward to almost 30 years later and I am now the founder of Lotus, a leading ABA therapy provider in South Florida that will soon be celebrating 15 years. Most discussions about autism these days are less about awareness and more about love and acceptance of individuals with neurodiversity. We still have a long way to go, but we can’t forget to be grateful for how far we’ve come.

It’s World Behavior Analysis Day! 💙🧩💙 Who knew?!? Behavior analysis is something I instantly I fell in love with as an undergrad at FIU. The logic, the data, the science, the ability to make meaningful changes in the life of a child with autism. Here I am over 20 years later and I’m still in love. Feeling thankful for all of our AUsome kiddos throughout the years, and now even my own little Bebesito who I get to practice behavior analysis with on the daily as his momma. Behavior analysis changes lives. It changes lives for the better. And I couldn’t be more proud of the work we do every day. Here’s to a lifetime of caring and loving for one another bigger and better with the power of behavior analysis! 💙🧩💙

Today Lotus celebrates 14 years of delivering high-quality ABA therapy services to AUsome kiddos throughout South Florida and Puerto Rico. We are so happy we get to do the work we love every day. Thank you to our families for trusting us with their most prized possessions, to the clinical team members we have called family throughout the years, and to the children who give our lives a sense of purpose. Lotus Women Volume 6 “Despite persistent barriers to full participation in all facets of society, women have made significant advancements in areas as diverse as science, politics, the arts, and literature. Women have battled for the right to vote, the right to own land, and the right to an education, despite confronting discrimination and inequality. Women have also been instrumental in societal and political campaigns, including the suffrage, feminism and LGBTQ+ rights groups.

Women continue to break down barriers and take the reins in a variety of areas, proving that they can do anything males can do. It is impossible to create a better future for humanity without the participation and advancement of women, who are both strong and crucial.

Before I was conceived, many members of my mother's family fled Cuba and relocated to the United States. My mother moved to New York by herself at the age of twenty-four and managed to acquire a new language and hold down a job so they could get by. My mother raised my sibling and I. I will always look up to her as an example of female strength and confidence. My grandmother is the epitome of independence. She always admired her husband but once he passed away, she knew she had herself to rely on. She has gone through so much; different times where women weren't allowed to do certain things or would need to keep quiet in order to maintain the peace. She is the reason why I speak up against wrong doings and do my best to make sure women are heard every day by encouraging my friends and peers to acknowledge and use their voices.
