These cuties came running for our laps as soon as we sat down. The small ones making suckling sounds the whole time. Our hearts melted. The big one named “scallop” came for my daughter as soon as he saw her and refused to move. His face was facing down the whole time so we thought he was fast asleep because he was being called but did not respond at all. We didn’t know he was awake the whole time until we put the phone near his face and took this picture. Look at that grin! Have you ever seen a pig make such a cheeky smile? He knew what he was doing. lol

We had the opportunity to learn soy sauce and miso making from a 5th generation maker at their facility where they have been doing this work for 150 years.

The banana plant represents femininity, motherhood, and nurturing to me with the way the flowers resembles breast and how the fruit can replenish our breast milk and the way they can spread and create new life constantly through shoots. Every few years I get pulled back into working through ancestral traumas and the cycle has seemed to have returned recently in the way I have been contemplating on my ancestral line again. I was thinking about how strong women can be, but what’s underneath that strength is the tears of our ancestors that our souls remember and that’s why we are so powerful. Hidden underneath the thick petals of the banana flowers are these tiny delicate and beautiful florets, just like the way our toughness carefully protects the many fragilities that turn into the fruits.

When I can’t sleep, it’s usually a full moon. Last night at 2:30am I went outside. I had never seen a moon so bright. It was illuminating the whole sky. Its cleansing power was powerful too. I had been releasing many emotions and tears all day. 寝れないな〜って思った時は大抵満月。昨日はそんな夜で深夜2時半ごろ家の外に出てみたら生まれて初めて見たデカさの満月で外が明るかった。あんなに美しい月は初めてかも。浄化パワーも凄かった。今日は沢山涙が出た。
