Post-Thanksgiving check-in:

Black Friday plans: resting… and maybe buying a new heating pad because the last one didn’t survive Thanksgiving either. 💀✨

Play 🤸‍♂️ It’s the most important job our kiddos have! It’s where strength, balance, confidence, problem-solving, and emotional regulation are built…usually without them even realizing it. The playground becomes their classroom. Climbing teaches coordination, swinging builds core strength, running sharpens motor planning, and decision making.

For hypermobile kiddos, that playground experience is just as important, and just as joyful, but it may come with a few extra considerations.

Many hypermobile kids are creative, adaptable movers! They naturally figure out strategies that work for their bodies, and they thrive when given the space, encouragement, and tools to explore safely.

For parents, a few helpful things to watch for include:

✨When they push past fatigue trying to keep up

✨ When certain movements consistently cause discomfort

✨ When stability or balance seems just a step behind their peers.

With gentle guidance, the right footwear, intentional strength-building, and playful activities that build stability without pressure, hypermobile kids can fully enjoy the magic of playground play. And when needed, working with a supportive network who understands hypermobility can help families create fun, accessible movement strategies tailored to their individual child.
