Lori’s Hands is a local nonprofit organization that builds intergenerational, mutually beneficial partnerships between individuals with chronic illness and college students. During weekly home visits, students provide critical help with household tasks and resource navigation to support client independence as well as companionship to combat their social isolation and loneliness. Simultaneously, student volunteers gain a firsthand understanding of the experience of living with a chronic illness, deepening empathy and enhancing community connectedness. Lori’s Hands was founded in Newark, DE in 2009 and today serves clients and students in two additional chapters: Baltimore, MD (since 2020) and Metro Detroit, MI (since 2022).
To celebrate Lori’s Hands’ impact and the meaningful friendships formed over the past year, we are hosting fundraising dinners uniquely crafted for Lori’s Hands at Drip Cafe on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 and Thursday, February 6, 2025. These special events - consisting of a chef curated dinner menu, silent auction and community connections - will engage stakeholders in and around Newark, DE.
Lori’s Hands relies on the generosity of donors to continue to provide our much-needed services free of charge to the community. We plan to include a silent auction in this event as part of our fundraising effort. The money made from the auction will go towards the continuation of Lori’s Hands’ programming in Newark, DE, Baltimore, MD, and Metro Detroit, MI.
