In a recent study, (cisgender) women discuss why they fake or***ms with (cisgender) men. Founder of Journey Wellness & Consulting Lena Queen contributes to a VeryWell Mind's article, How Male Fragility Can Impact Women's S*xual Experiences, about this study.
Queen shares "“From girlhood to womanhood, the expectation of women to avoid harm instead of their masculine partner to learn emotional availability and accountability continues to pressure women to be the problem fixer. While still perceived in a male-centered society as ‘ the weaker s*x,’ women are also socialized to be emotionally available and stronger in their relationships and not expect much in return.”
Find out what Queen has must be done to improve emotional safety and s*xual satisfaction in one's relationship.

Whether you are parenting your child or Reparenting yourself, conscious parenting is a wonderful healing framework.
It's easy to jump in and try to reason with our kids when they don't handle something well or need to learn something. But we know some things about the brain here that can really help you to stay connected with your child AND help them learn better.
I talk about it using the Brain Stoplight metaphor.
First we need to Regulate. We need to connect and get out of the red light state (my language) or our survival brain.
Then we need to connect in the emotional space. "It makes sense why you reacted that way. I'm sorry. I didn't know you were having a hard time..." The point is to connect. This is the yellow light or the emotional brain. We need to speak to that next.
And then, and only then, are you and your child back to green light and can reason.
Regulate.
Relate.
Reason.
In that order.
This is how our brains work and how our children's brains work. Work with these ideas and see how it transforms your family's conflicts. Works for partners, too!

About Jeanae
Jeanae is the owner of JHJ Therapy, LLC where she works with individuals, couples, and partners addressing fertility challenges, perinatal loss, s*xuality concerns, & more . She also is the creator of a blog and community – www.blackangelmom.com – which addresses areas of parenthood and life that are all too often relegated to the purely personal and not given or allowed a voice by the larger culture. The loss of her twin daughters and reaching towards families of color and their experiences of loss are the seeds of this endeavor.
To aid in the healing process from pregnancy and infant loss, Jeanae created The Black Angel Mom Guided Journal, designed to help navigate the challenging world of healing after perinatal loss. With free space to write, journal prompts, activities, and coloring pages, this guided journal helps walk you through the internal and external worlds of grieving while supporting you to integrate and grow from such a hard experience.

Decolonizing Therapy: Why an Apolitical Mental Health System Doesn’t Work
"Decolonizing therapy involves looking at how the mental health industrial complex continues to inflict a lot of harm on people because it chooses to remain apolitical," she said.
"A part of this work of decolonizing therapy is about undoing the narrative that just talking about your feelings is enough."
Mission: Journey Wellness & Consulting Group, LLC. (i.e. Journey Wellness) specializes in providing LGB and Trans-affirming compassionate mental health and s*x therapy, in addition to, s*xuality & gender education to children, adolescents and adults to support and advocate for their emotional, mental and s*xual well-being.
History: Journey Wellness was launched November 2016 by s*x therapist, Talena “Lena” Queen, LCSW, as an intersectional trauma-informed social justice outpatient therapy practice to ensure comprehensive mental health and s*x therapy, in addition to, s*xuality and gender education was accessible to marginalized communities (q***r and non-q***r), in addition to, educate family, community members, & helping professional regarding s*xuality and gender development, expression, and the intersectional lived experience. An intersectional approach honors how race, culture, gender, class, ability, spirituality and power affects the lived experience of a person. Lena is an intersectional LGBTQAI+ and poly-supportive life coach, psychotherapist & kink-aware s*x therapist and s*x educator.
S*xosophy(My philosophy about life from a s*xuality lens):
My s*xosophy consists of rejecting and reframing oppressive and marginalizing ways of thinking and expectations regarding s*xuality and personhood to center, affirm and celebrate the client’s narrative as a (a)s*xual being. This consists of decolonizing negative self-talk by unlearning the systemically oppressive and shamed-based language of one’s s*xual and gender scripts, expectations, expression, performance for the pursuit and attainment of emotional wellness, and s*xual healing and s*xual liberation. Plain language: I help you unpack the negativity you learned about yourself from as a result of family, peer, community, & mainstream standards of s*xuality, gender and everything in between.
In life and in therapy, growth occurs with time and experience. Interacting with someone who has experienced and interpreted their expression of their s*xuality and gender through their narrative is foundational to my clinical approach. Your story told from your point of view is where therapy happens. My clinical approach and interventions has been based on the effectiveness of evidence-based interventions such as intersectional CBT, intersectional s*x therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed approaches. My hope is to support others in their journey to unapologetically define their self (-ves) by reclaiming their narrative through the decolonization of s*xual scripts, gender expression and gender performance for the pursuit and attainment of emotional wellness, s*xual healing and s*xual liberation.
