There’s nothing quite like family photos to bring out your inner perfectionist. As a recovering perfectionist, I encourage you to enter family photo season with grace. Perfect hair, perfect outfits, and perfect smiles don’t make a perfect picture. Happy families do! ❤️

Thank you for a great experience! We can’t wait to see your magic!

Give yourself permission to accept your body’s responses to stressors. More than likely, those responses served you at one time and kept you safe. Now that you are a little bit more removed from certain stressors, you have the power to decide if the responses still serve you.

Yes. Yes, and yes. Having a functional space and healthy mindset is far more important than a picture perfect home.

As promised, here’s the first gem from “What Happened to You?” Behavior is communication. It’s hard to remember that we are all moving through life trying to get our needs met in the best ways we know how. When you sit with someone and choose to move into their experiences with them, you begin to understand why they chose what they chose.

It’s Pride Month and as someone who has the privilege of serving individuals within the LGBTQIA+ Community, I have had difficulty creating a social media post. This is mostly because it feels so performative. However, Pride Month is a time to honor and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, and I will happily participate in that!

My post is not the perspective of someone in the community, but there is something I can offer as someone who has sat with the beautiful souls of this community and listened to their stories. And man are they beautiful stories. They are stories of hope, messiness, forgiveness, resentment, healing, rejection, resilience, strength, love (so much love), and joy. Does it sound familiar? It’s because they are the stories of humanity. They are stories that deserve to be heard and respected. They are lives and rights that deserve to be honored and recognized. I urge anyone who sees this community and the individuals within it as “other,” to challenge your biases and beliefs because I genuinely believe all benefit when we agree that LOVE IS FOR ALL.

I’m still in the first chapter, and I’m having to remind myself that if you highlight everything, it means nothing.

I agree with . Everyone could benefit from . The world would be so different if we viewed things from a lens. Keep an eye out for some quotes from this book. I promise they’re coming at you soon.

Cheers to all the mamas out there still trying to get your stuff done while transitioning back to your kids being home ALL THE TIME. May your patience be as strong as your coffee. 😂 ☕️

Pic A: Sweet father-son moment playing in the sand. Mom reading fiction in the shade. Aren’t we perfect?

Pic B: Fam getting blasted by waves. Mom in a tube bc she doesn’t do jelly fish. Freezing water+ jelly fish anxiety = Approximately 10 minutes of water time for me.

I was lucky to be able to spend this past week with my family not in the 10-mile radius we have mainly been in for over a year. We had a really great time and made some really great memories.

I also experienced more anxiety and grief than I expected during this first extended outing. Returning to “normal” reminds us how much we have sacrificed. Returning to “normal” hi-lights how much risk assessment we have been doing FOR EVERYTHING.

Be gentle with yourself as you transition. It is very typical to have more emotions surface after a trauma than during the trauma. AND COVID WAS A COLLECTIVE TRAUMA. Your experience is valid. Your emotions and reactions are valid.
