Save the hoo-hoos: Sam's fight against cervical cancer Sam passed away 2/21/17 from complications related to the cancer she fought for 3.5 years. This page Do not engage with the user or get into a "fight."

Sam was diagnosed in November with advanced late stage 4a cervical cancer that has spread up her lymph nodes to near her kidneys. Rather then let it get the best of her, we are all using it as an opportunity to help spread the word. Sam and Jeremiah are my brother and sister in law. They live in a small town that is about 42 miles away from the hospital where Sam is receiving her treatments. Take a look at the page to find ways to support them and the research needed for this horrible disease. With everyone's help we can do our part to make sure another family doesn't have to deal with this.

Hi everyone, sorry it's been so long since I posted last, since Sam's passing I have lost focus on maintaining this page. But this message is still very important.

Ladies, please get your regular checkups and get your children vaccinated against HPV. Sam's battle and passing should stand as a reminder of the importance of this, don't wait til it's too late, let Sam's death be your motivation, the cancer that took her life is preventable and/or easily curable if found early.

So as many of you know Sam is about to have a pelvic exenteration. Basically that means they're removing all her female organs including her va**na, bladder, re**um, and portions of her intestines. Her current colostomy will be moved to the right side of her belly and she'll get a ileostomy on the left. Good news is she gets rid of the tubes in her back. More good news hopefully this cuts down the chances of the new precancerous cells developing or spreading. Bad news Sam will be under the knife for 10+hours, be in the hospital for at least a week ( with part of that time being in ICU), and recovery takes anywhere from 6 months to a year or more. Again we ask you to read this and spread the word....HPV isn't anything to play around with unless you want to lose literally everything...from your body to your life. Get your children, girls AND boys their HPV shots.
