Linda Stay, our friend, wife, mother of 9, grand-mother of 7 & 1/2, sister and as she calls herself, “accidental activist,” is confronting the biggest challenge of her life. She's dealing with an aggressive and invasive breast cancer, covering the overwhelming ensuing medical expenses, and raising the money to get the care that will give her the best lifesaving outcome today as well as the best quality of life in the years to come. If you are fortunate to know anything about Linda it is probably that she seems fearless and passionate in everything she does, especially when it comes to standing up and lending her voice and might for those being treated unfairly. It’s not just her own children that call her the mama bear but also the thousands of individuals that feel like her adopted children because of the stand for equality and acceptance she has so willingly taken for them. Today, Linda could use you as a financial mama bear to help her get the best lifesaving treatments for the disease that has been challenging her life since January 2015. In March, Linda underwent a double Mastectomy and as a result of a previous extremely rare health issue, “Cushings Disease,” her immune system is severely weakened, creating complications from infection and making the healing process slower than normal. As a result of the generosity of family & friends, she was able to have immune building treatments that kept her strong enough to complete the intense 8 chemotherapy treatments that reduced the risk of the cancer coming back within the next 10 years to around 34%. It's critical that Linda continue a regimen of integrative treatments that are not covered by insurance or all available locally. They will further reduce the possible recurrence of cancer by rebuilding my immune system, which was already compromised by the Cushing's disease, and by repairing the organ and tissue damage caused by the chemo, drugs and pain medications. Because of her extremely high recurrence score and the large percentage of patients that have heart, blood & liver issues a few years after having the same chemo treatments it is important to stay aggressive with these protocols. These critical medical treatments and travel related cost come at a steep price. Her family’s resources were quickly exhausted with these additional expenses added to their regular living expenses and with her unable to contribute at the level she was previously because of her condition. We know that through the love and power of all of you who support and love Linda we can pick up the huge slack. Linda gives so much to all those around her, now it is our chance to give to her. Please donate what you can and spread the word to those you think would be able and willing to help. Cancer obviously had no idea who it was picking a fight with as Linda doesn’t give up easily. Last year she celebrated the 20th anniversary of a “three months left to live” diagnosis given to her in 1994. Linda is intent on getting well and has plans for the future. She knows her work in the world is not over, besides, she is adamant about celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary with Steve in 2051. She has been extremely pro-active in researching not only the best treatment options available and causes of the disease but what to do to prevent recurrence. The amazing attitude she has in facing this challenge continues to be an inspiration to all who are following her journey. As friends and family, we hope you will join us in helping Linda on her journey back to wellness by making a donation today and by sharing this site with a personal encouragement for others to do the same. Any amount is appreciated. Please help Linda embrace life to its fullest and continue to make a difference in the world. You can contribute at www.YouCaring.com/linda
